Product Rave: The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil

With school starting and the weather changing, my skin has been less than perfect to say the least. I'm a massive fan pretty much all of The Body Shop products, and saw this beautiful serum in the window several weeks ago. I decided to give this new product from their Vitamin E line a try and see if my dry skin would subside.

After trying this Serum-In-Oil for a couple weeks, I can definetly see a difference in my skin's texture (My cheeks have never felt softer, heehee!). In the image below, you can see that the serum sinks right into the skin and doesn't leave a greasy feel. You only need 2-3 drops for your whole face, making the product last long.

I put this serum on during my nighttime skincare routine. After I cleanse and tone my skin, I brush my teeth to let everything sink in. Then, I grab this serum and massage it into my skin. And lastly, I apply my moisturizer and go to sleep! During the night, the serum goes to work and helps restore the moisture in my skin. The result ending in soft skin the next day. I'm really looking forward to trying it out during the winter time, when the air is dry. That will really put this product to the test.

Do you have a favourite serum? Do you use a serum? let me know in the comments below. You can buy The Body Shop Vitamin E Serum-In-Oil here.

A Summer Hiatus

Hello Everyone! I hope all of you have had an amazing summer, as you could have guessed I've been MIA for almost the whole summer. I do apologize but I promise you that I've conjured up many new and exciting ideas for this coming season.

There are many reasons why I decided to go on a summer hiatus, but the main reason is because I really wanted to give myself a chance to relax for the two measly months that I had off from school. Im sure most of you can understand why I wanted to have time to "reboot and refresh". For me, blogging is a way for me to escape from "reality" if you will; a way for me to reflect on what's happening around me, and a place where I can write about whatever I want and express myself in any way that I want. So, it was hard for me to let go for a while and give myself a chance to breathe.

During my hiatus, I found time to explore the world around me and my own creativity. I spent time with friends, family, and made time for myself. It seemed like someone hit the "restart" button at the beginning of August and it was just what I needed.

I'd love to know what you were all up to this summer, if you enjoyed it or not. Maybe tell me what your favourite memory was from the break?

A Ramble - Photo Albums Are Still A Big Deal

Do you remember having those giant photo albums that had the sticky pages and were filled with memorable pictures from the past? Well, I do. I still have two in my room that are stocked with pictures of my family and friends from when I was a young kiddie. Today I was looking through them and I was trying to figure out why I've kept these photos for so long in this silly, Winnie the Pooh album rather than scanning them and keeping a collection on my computer. After several minutes of trying to think of an answer, I finally came to the conclusion that although my computer holds many memorable photos, the act of opening a photo album and holding actual photos in my hand feels a lot more real (for lack of a better word) than anything else.

I've grown up in a world run by technology. Electronics surround me at all hours of the day, but I still find myself reverting to the "archaic" way of doing things. I still use my photo albums in my room, and I still read tangible books instead of reading off a screen. The presence of technology will only become more prominent in our society, but if there's one thing that will always be desired, I believe it will be photographs that we can hold in our hands and admire without having to look at a screen. I'm probably one of the only people who believes that photo albums are still a big deal but I guess that's okay.  If you agree that photo albums should still be a thing, comment down below. That's all, folks!

Heart to Heart: Why do I Wear Makeup?

Yesterday morning I was rushing to put on my mascara as usual, when I thought: Why am I doing this? Is mascara really going to make a huge impact on wether or not I will have a good day? Will all this effort in putting on my makeup completely and instantly transform me into a beautiful woman? Why am I doing this?

People who ask me why I wear makeup or why I'm so interested in it, get the reply, "I wear makeup to enhance my natural beauty, not to cover my insecurities." This may seem completely earnest, but I actually feel like the reason I've been wearing makeup all this time is because I'm afraid of judgement. I fear that people around me will look at me weird because I have a pimple on my forehead, or if my skin is blotchy. I think that's the reason why most women wear it. As I'm writing to you now, I'm sitting beside my two drawers full of makeup thinking about the massive amounts of money that I've spent on things that I don't really need. To me, a vital part of growing up is realizing that you are beautiful without makeup. True confidence makes beauty shine, not your highlighter.

I enjoy experimenting with makeup and discovering new products but I came to the realization that in order to put things in perspective I have to feel beautiful without makeup before I use it to enhance my natural beauty. Please keep in mind, that this is solely my opinion and I don't expect everyone to agree with me on this topic. I am writing this because I want people to know the real reason why I wore makeup in the past and the realization that I've come to about true beauty.

I think of myself as a lifestyle and wellness blogger, not necessarily just a beauty blogger. I've decided to revise the description of my blog, from a beauty blog for the most part, to a lifestyle blog. There will be posts about a huge array of topics. Food, mental wellness, fashion, tips, DIY, music, and lastly beauty will all be featured on my blog from now on. You, my readers, are very important to me. Please stay tuned for an exciting year filled with diverse posts.
